THE FRAGRANCE OF LAVENDER

Everyone knows the fragrance of lavender! It’s presence is evocative of times past, for me I have memories of my Grandma who always had a bottle of Yardley’s Lavender on her dressing table, it was a famous cure all, a hankie drenched in it was applied to gnat bites, tears were mopped up with it and it always cooled the troubled brow.

We decided to take a trip to The Lavender Farm at Hitchin, only a shot run but we left early so as to get the best light for photographs but also because the men wanted to get back in time to watch the Grand Prix at Silverstone on TV.

We had a lovely morning, the air was laden with the fragrance and the entry fee to the fields meant we could pick as much lavender as we wanted, and it was a great Photo opportunity Hope you like, a shame we have not got a ‘smell it now’ app but it will come, I don’t doubt!

I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW YOUR MEMORIES OF LAVENDER

  1. A “smell it now app?!” lol 😉 Love those fields of lavender…never seen so many in one place! My best memories of lavender, are I think, of those many christmas and birthday presents involving lavender bath thingies…lavender body lotions…lavender body sprays…well you know! 😉 Oh yes…and the lavender pillow thingies!! Typical men having to get back for Silverstone/Grand Prix btw 😉
