On Sunday we decided to pay another visit to Kew Gardens, we did not allow for engineering works on the Underground, we had to leave the train and take a replacement bus, I asked the driver a question about our destination and he said ‘dunno!’ well I guess he didn’t because he got lost twice and had to back this big old bus up a side street lined with parked cars, we had a bumpy ride through the heart of the East End at twice the speed of sound, to places I have never been before, it took over 3 hours to do the journey, so when we arrived we headed straight for our favorite restaurant
After a good lunch and a bottle of wine and great company supplied by this little white cat we went to the gardens which were showing the Moore at Kew exhibition. The sculptures were dotted all over the gardens so we could not hope to see them all, this was called Reclining Figure – Angles. In fact most of his pieces are called reclining figure.

It was such a beautiful day and the light was good to show of the spectacular Autumn colours, so many people were visiting but it was not
over crowded, children were allowed to climb on the pieces and everybody seemed it be in a happy mood. The fountain in the lake in front of the Palm House was of great interest and the lake had it’s usual population of geese and swans .
There is so much to see here you really need several visits to see it all, but if you wish there is a little train which will take you round the garden with a commentary which offer a great over view of the garden.
This sculpture , I think attracted the most attention, possibly because it was outside the Orangery which served tea. The lines were so smooth and you could walk inside it and climb over it if you wished, also the spaces were here for you to fill with your own vistas.
We also visited the princess of Wales Conservatory which is divided into climatic zones and you can see a variety of plants from cacti to orchids, as I showed you many orchids from our last trip here is something a little more

I enjoyed this trip to the Kew as much as the last one. Great pictures. Sorry you had such a surly inept bus driver, but it probably made lunch all the more delicious and relaxing. The wine surely helped ease any tensions. Sounds like a spectacular day.

Hmmmm…a bus driver who gets lost?? That’s not very professional…lol. What a beautiful place…I don’t blame you for wanting to go back again and again. Thanks for sharing those lovely pics that you take.

The gardens must have been lovely in fall,and isn’t it interesting the modern sculptures and how they fit into garden views.

Hello Susan,Only 10 of the 28 have ‘reclining’ in the title!!Such a pity you had insufficient time to view them all. There is such variety – far more than I knew of in his work.Next time you have trouble with reaching Kew by the District line take the Central line from Stratford or Liverpool Street through to Ealing Broadway and the Kingston bus from just outside the station.
